using virtual design for manufacturing cells
Using virtual design for manufacturing cells.
Schneider Electric, the world leader in energy and digital automation, has partnered with CADwalk Global to design a new manufacturing cell for its Gepps Cross factory. CADwalk’s virtual and augmented reality technology was developed in South Australia.
By using virtual reality, Schneider employees were able to give feedback on concepts during the design phase, and the manufacturing team could make alterations prior to implementation. This saved Schneider both time and money.
The Gepps Cross factory is a SMART factory, fitted with Schneider’s EcoStruxure Internet of Things technologies.
“This collaborative project is a great example on how Schneider Electric is accelerating our SMART Factory program,” said Damian Allen, supply chain performance leader at Schneider. “We’re in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution, which is driving significant change and digital transformation. To keep up with the rapid rate of change it’s important to partner up with other leading edge companies like CADwalk to fast track breakthroughs in LEAN manufacturing techniques.”
“CADwalk Global is proud to have worked with Schneider Electric on this project, which demonstrates perfectly the benefits that are obtained by walking through your design using CADwalk,” said Lena Kimenkowski, Executive Director, CADwalk. Visit the CADwalk website.
