Shirley Wu Jewellery: Where Creativity Meets Connection
When Shirley Wu first started experimenting with glass and jewellery in 2020, she had no idea her passion project would grow into an award-winning business inspiring creativity across Adelaide and beyond.
Today, Shirley Wu Jewellery is known not only for its distinctive handmade pieces, but also for its sought-after jewellery - making workshops that bring people together to create, connect, and share stories.
Shirley’s work is deeply rooted in her own story. Growing up in China and later building a life in Adelaide, she channels her cultural heritage and personal experiences into each creation. From silver pieces featuring delicate paper-folding techniques to botanical imprints made with leaves gathered from the Adelaide Hills, every item is designed to carry meaning.
As the workshops grew in popularity, even earning Shirley the Adelaide Fringe “Best Workshop & Talk Award” in 2025, she realised that a strong digital presence was essential to keep up with demand and reach more people.
But the leap from artist to businesswoman wasn’t always straightforward. To grow her impact and make her work more accessible, Shirley turned to the Digital Solutions Program, which helped her elevate her online presence, build a professional website, and create a clear marketing strategy.
“Before joining the program, I felt unsure how to position myself as a business rather than just an artist,” Shirley says. “I struggled with social media consistency, didn’t have a marketing plan, and my website wasn’t communicating what I offered.”
Through personalised mentoring with Quisk, and practical workshops, Shirley learned how to plan and schedule content, run ads effectively, and measure her results. The impact has been clear: after launching her new website and maintaining a weekly social media schedule, Shirley saw 12,000 more views and 185 more interactions in just six weeks compared to the previous period.
These digital improvements have translated into more workshop bookings, increased customer enquiries, and the confidence to pitch for collaborations, including a seasonal workshop with Jurlique Farm and applications for opportunities like Renew Adelaide.
Shirley is now thinking strategically about her next steps, with a goal to establish a permanent retail and workshop space in Adelaide’s CBD and continue growing her e-commerce platform to reach audiences across Australia.
Her advice for other small business owners? “Don’t underestimate the power of a strong digital strategy. The Digital Solutions Program turned what felt overwhelming into clear, actionable steps, and gave me the confidence to grow online and offline.”
Whether you’re looking for a meaningful, handmade jewellery piece or a creative, hands-on experience, Shirley Wu Jewellery offers something truly special and thanks to her digital transformation, it’s now easier than ever to explore.
