Miss Sippy: Brewing Community, Coffee and Confidence on Wheels
From vintage caravans to bold business vision, Miss Sippy is proof that great ideas can spark in the most unexpected places, even at a playground.
Founded by Courtney Pearsons in January 2020, Miss Sippy is an Adelaide based, family run coffee van business that brings specialty, locally roasted coffee to communities all over South Australia.
With three beautifully renovated vintage caravans in tow, Miss Sippy serves up more than just caffeine, it delivers experience, connection, and a whole lot of heart.
Coffee with character
Miss Sippy Coffee Van caters for everything from casual pop-up stops to large scale corporate functions and community events. Alongside expertly crafted coffee, customers can enjoy a range of fun “sippy style” drinks, all served from caravans that turn heads and spark conversations wherever they roll in.
Inspired by family, built for flexibility
The idea for Miss Sippy was born from Courtney’s desire to create an income while spending quality time with her children, and showing them what’s possible when you build something from the ground up. One day at the playground, hoping for a Mr Whippy van to appear, she imagined a coffee machine instead of an icecream freezer. That simple moment of inspiration became the foundation for a thriving business.
Stepping into the next season of growth
What started as a side hustle quickly evolved into a full-time venture, prompting Courtney to seek guidance through the Women in Business Foundations Program delivered by Adelaide Business Hub. At the time, her biggest challenge was building a team, a common growing pain for small businesses scaling up.
Through workshops, mentoring and webinars, Courtney gained clarity around three key pillars: consistency, accountability and value. Just as importantly, the program offered space to reflect, reset and refine her vision for the future.
“It gave me a different perspective on what I want to create within my business. Being able to bounce ideas off my mentor Rachel Titley from SheFarmer and get honest feedback was incredibly comforting and motivating.”
Rolling into innovation
One of the most exciting outcomes of the program is Miss Sippy’s upcoming initiative, “Get Rolling,” a rolling commercial space concept where Miss Sippy provides the wheels, and start-ups, small businesses or corporations utilise the caravan on their own site.
This initiative is designed to lower the barrier to entry for businesses who can’t justify the cost of purchasing a food truck, offering a flexible, creative solution backed by structure and strategy learned through the program.
Advice for other business owners
Courtney’s message to others considering the Women in Business Foundations Program is clear:
If you’re feeling stuck or craving more from your business, this program helps you reconnect with your vision.
“Just writing down your hopes and dreams can feel out of reach at times. Having a process in place to potentially make them a reality is so exciting.”
