Mind to Mind Psychology: Building Connection, Creating Change

For many people, seeking support for their mental wellbeing can feel daunting.

At Mind to Mind Psychology, connection sits at the heart of the therapeutic experience, creating a space where people feel understood, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Based in Bowden, Mind to Mind Psychology was co-founded by Jana Le and Bart Pawlik and has quickly established itself as a leading psychology practice focused on compassionate, high-quality care. In early 2025, the team rebranded after taking over Central Psychology Services, a trusted practice that had been serving the community for almost two decades. Since then, the business has continued to flourish, growing into a team of approximately 20 psychologists and administration professionals dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and organisations thrive.

Making Psychology More Human

At its core, Mind to Mind Psychology was created from a simple but powerful belief: psychology should feel more human, connected, and accessible.

“We wanted to create more than just a clinic,” Jana explains. “We wanted to create a space for connection, not only between psychologists and clients, but also between health professionals, organisations, and the wider community.”

That vision influences every aspect of the practice. The team supports adolescents, adults, couples, and professionals navigating challenges such as anxiety, burnout, trauma, emotional regulation, identity, relationships, and significant life transitions. They also work closely with individuals in leadership and helping professions who are often balancing the responsibility of supporting others while trying to remain connected to their own wellbeing.

Beyond individual therapy, Mind to Mind Psychology delivers workshops, professional development programs, and wellbeing initiatives for organisations and community groups. Through partnerships, events, and educational opportunities, the practice is helping to make conversations around mental health more approachable and meaningful.

From Clinician to Business Leader

As the practice expanded rapidly, Jana found herself navigating a new challenge, transitioning from psychologist to business owner and leader.

“Like many people in healthcare, I was very comfortable supporting others,” she says. “But I was less confident stepping back and looking at the business strategically.”

Balancing clinical work alongside leadership responsibilities, operations, staff support, marketing, and decision-making became increasingly complex. Seeking guidance and a stronger business foundation, Jana joined the Women in Business Foundations Program through Adelaide Business Hub.

The opportunity provided not just practical business education, but also connection with other women facing similar leadership challenges and a supportive environment to develop new skills and perspectives.

Creating Sustainable Growth

Before joining the program, one of Jana’s biggest challenges was ensuring that the practice’s growth remained sustainable. While demand for services continued to increase, she recognised the importance of strengthening operational systems and structures to support that expansion effectively.

Through tailored one-on-one mentoring with Kerryn at Quisk and Angela at Best Business Results, the program encouraged her to step back from the day-to-day demands and think more strategically about the future of the business.

Among the key lessons Jana gained were:

- Developing a long-term approach to sustainable business growth

- Building adaptable systems and operational structures

- Strengthening digital presence, branding, and social media strategies

- Improving prioritisation and strategic decision-making

- Enhancing leadership skills and workplace culture

- Learning the value of working on the business, not just in it

Coming from a clinical background, these business-focused frameworks provided practical tools that could be implemented immediately within the practice.

Strengthening Community Impact

The impact of the Women in Business Foundations Program extended beyond internal business operations. It inspired Jana and her team to deepen their involvement within the community and pursue new opportunities for collaboration.

One standout initiative involved partnering with a local AFL club to support a wellbeing round aimed at raising awareness around mental health and fostering stronger community connections. The practice also refined its use of digital platforms to share educational content, communicate its values, and engage more meaningfully with a broader audience.

The business’s growing reputation was further recognised through its selection as a finalist in the City of Charles Sturt Business Recognition Awards, opening additional opportunities to connect with local business networks and council-led initiatives.

Internally, the practice strengthened its leadership structures, improved financial planning conversations, and implemented clearer operational processes to support continued growth while maintaining the high standard of care clients have come to expect.

Leading With Purpose

Reflecting on her experience, Jana believes one of the most valuable lessons was understanding that sustainable growth is not about working harder, it is about working smarter.

“It’s about building the right structures, asking better questions, learning from other people’s experiences, and giving yourself permission to think bigger-picture about where your business is heading,” she says.

She also highlights the importance of connection and collaboration, particularly for women navigating the challenges of leadership and business ownership.

“Running a business can feel isolating at times. The program creates opportunities for genuine connection, practical learning, and conversations that help things click in a different way.”

For Jana, those lessons align perfectly with the philosophy that underpins Mind to Mind Psychology itself: meaningful change happens through connection, between people, within communities, and through a deeper understanding of ourselves.

As the practice continues to grow, that commitment to authenticity, compassion, and connection remains central to its mission of helping people live healthier, more connected lives.
