Growing with Purpose: CLOVER Green Space
Operating out of the beautiful Adelaide Hills, CLOVER Green Space is a landscape architecture and design consultancy recognised for creating places that connect people, culture, and environment.
Founded in 2017 by the Lovering's at the family dining table, the business has since grown into a dynamic studio of eight talented landscape architects. Today, CLOVER delivers innovative, sustainable designs across sectors including health and aged care, education, parks and playspaces, streetscapes, community developments, and sports and recreation facilities.
A Journey of Resilience and Discovery
When the business opened its office in Nairne, co-owner Tania Lovering was running her own small vintage shop next door. But life had other plans. Just as the shop started gaining traction, the Cudlee Creek fires struck, followed closely by the challenges of COVID-19. Through it all, Tania discovered where her true passion lay, not in front of house, but behind the scenes.
“I started helping out with admin at CLOVER here and there, and before long, I realised this was where I belonged,” Tania shared. “Today, I’m not only co-owner but also studio manager. Some days I have to be told to go home, I’ve absolutely found my place.”
Strengthening Foundations through Mentorship
Like many small businesses, CLOVER faced its fair share of growing pains. The turning point came when Tania attended a local networking night and learned about the Women in Business Foundations Program. With expert mentoring in HR and Xero, the program provided clarity and practical solutions.
“The HR mentoring with Trish from Solutions to Spec was incredible, it built my confidence and gave me the tools to implement meaningful cultural changes,” Tania said. “And the Xero mentoring with Bev from Functional Business Solutions was game-changing, it introduced us to tools that are now transforming the way we manage projects and track productivity.”
Real Impact for a Thriving Practice
Since participating in the program, CLOVER has implemented key initiatives to strengthen both its operations and culture. These include:
Developing a comprehensive suite of HR policies in preparation for ISO9001 accreditation
Creating a dedicated wellness and meditation space for their team
Trialling apps to streamline project and time tracking
“For me, success is facing the gaps in what you know and doing something about it,” Tania explained. “I’m showing up differently now. I feel confident, capable, and proud to truly belong in the business.”
Advice for Other Business Owners
Tania encourages others to embrace the opportunities programs like Women in Business Foundations offer.
“Say yes. The mentoring is tailored, the people are genuinely invested in your success, and the impact is real. It’s not just about ticking boxes, it’s about gaining the clarity and confidence to move your business forward in the right way.”
