Building Belonging Through Care
The Story of Care & Venture Disability Support Services
For Carina Rabong, founder of Care & Venture Disability Support Services, disability support is about far more than delivering a service, it’s about creating genuine connections, fostering belonging, and helping people live with greater independence and confidence.
Established in 2022, Care & Venture is an independent, South Australian-owned disability support provider based in Morphett Vale. What began as a one-person operation has grown into a team of 18 dedicated staff supporting participants and families across Adelaide and the Fleurieu Peninsula.
The business provides a range of NDIS services, including in-home support, community access, transport, respite care, overnight support, and 24-hour care arrangements. Despite its growth, Care & Venture remains committed to delivering personalised, consistent support, with Carina and her office team staying closely involved with participants, families, and support workers.
“We’re built on relationships, trust, and the belief that every person deserves support tailored to their individual needs,” says Carina.
The inspiration behind the business stems from Carina’s own life experiences. Growing up in Germany alongside her sister, who lives with a disability, gave her an early understanding of the importance of strong support systems for both individuals and families. Later, a career in event management and years spent working on cruise ships around the world taught her valuable leadership and people skills but also highlighted how easily people can become overlooked in large systems.
In 2020, Carina travelled to Australia on what was meant to be a holiday and never left. Drawn to the disability sector, she began working as a disability support worker and quickly saw the life-changing impact of consistent, relationship-based care. As demand for her support grew, Care & Venture was born.
As the business expanded, Carina recognised the importance of strengthening both her leadership skills and business foundations. This led her to join the Women in Business Foundations Program through Adelaide Business Hub.
“Change doesn’t intimidate me, it motivates me,” she explains. “But having the right structures and support around you is what turns that mindset into results.”
Through tailored mentoring with Donna from Donna Adams Consulting and workshops, Carina gained valuable insights into strategic planning, leadership, and team development. One of the most impactful outcomes was reviewing and refining the structure of her office team, helping clarify roles, improve workflows, and create a stronger foundation for future growth.
The program also provided something equally valuable: the opportunity to step back from day-to-day operations and focus on the bigger picture.
“It helped me move from simply working in the business to working on the business,” says Carina. “I now have greater clarity around where we’re heading and how we’ll get there.”
Today, Care & Venture continues to grow while remaining true to the values it was founded on. With a clear vision, a dedicated team, and a commitment to putting people first, Carina is focused on ensuring every participant feels seen, valued, and genuinely supported.
For Carina, the Women in Business Foundations Program reinforced an important lesson she now shares with other business owners: don’t wait until things feel broken before seeking support.
“This program isn’t just for businesses facing challenges. It’s for business owners who want to build strong foundations, lead with confidence, and create something that lasts.”
